the Gateway project represents an impressive collaborative effort between desert INK and NORR architects for a mixed use landmark development in Cairo Festival City. With a prime location at the nexus between new and old Cairo, this 51,400m2 landscape delivers stunning and adaptable spaces capable of hosting events, F+B outlets, leisure activities and outdoor working. desert INK’s consistent goals of sustainability and universal accessibility have significantly influenced the vision for the landscape, which employs local materials and xerophytic adaptive plants to ensure both cost and resource efficiency. The project’s considerable level changes are addressed with both sensitivity and flair through the integration of ramped access combined with sculptural stepped platforms.
